On April 24 2021, a Florida man was arrested after he was found with a marijuana and meth farm underneath his home in Miami Beach. Reports say boats often arrived and left his home through the hours of 2am and 4am, which prompted a police investigation into his dealings and household.
When police arrived, they did not initially find any issues, but when aided by the coastguard they found a secret entrance leading underneath the property, where over 500 workers were chained up and mixing ingredients.
Police freed all of the workers and after international negotiations, sent the workers back to their home countries. One worker, Riyo Tabusa from Japan, told us ‘I had been chained up for 12 months since April 24th, made to soil myself and fed once per week, I was about to give up when you found me’.
The Florida man was sentenced to 264 years in prison with no opportunity to post bail. With good behavior, he would still be set to serve over his remaining life.

The Florida man, who had invented the specific hover car, told us ‘it was one of the hardest journeys of my life, staying awake for 48 hours when you can’t take your hands off the steering was so hard, if I was ever going to try this again I would have to bring someone with me so one could sleep’. The Florida man was extremely dehydrated, and was hospitalized for over 4 months afterwards, upon leaving hospital his bill totaled over $1 million.
Our thoughts
Wow, that sounds like one scary journey over the water for sure. When we were reading and researching these stories, the hover car journey was the 24th entry in google, I can’t believe something so historic would be so far back in the pages. One thing is for certain, April 24th is a day that will live on in the memories of Florida men around.
